What's Your Baby's Name?

Posted by Namely Newborns on Jan 1st 2015

Once you have announced you are pregnant; the second most popular question is" what are you going to name your baby".Long after the first most important question has been answered, people will still continue to ask you the name of your baby.

A baby's name is the first gift his parents bestow upon him. In many religions the naming of the baby is accompanied by a special religious ceremony; in most cultures the day the baby is named becomes a festive party in his honor. Some cultures and religions believe that the baby's name controls his destiny; in many societies the baby's name is a way of honoring living or deceased friends or relatives.

We at Namelynewborns love hearing about babies and their names. We embroider their names on our blankets, paint them on bookends and worry if we have spelled them correctly. There are never any definite ways to spell any name.

Babies names are no longer John and Mary, but Mia and Houston. We love the airport names Reagen and Kennedy as well as the ways the new Moms combine old fashioned names like Sophie. and Rose with modern names like Morgan to end up with a Morgan Rose or Ava Sophie. Classical biblical names like Noah and Adam are still popular with baby boys, but there are tons of gender neutral names like Sam and Jaedon which are used for both baby girls and boys. We always ask in the case of twins, which names goes on the pink gift and which goes on the blue- you never know with some of the crazy spellings.

We would love to hear about your favorite names and stories about the most unusual names that you have heard about. Email us at info@namelynewborns.com and we will list your comments on our blog.
