To Dress Twins Identical or Not ? Is the Big Question

Dressing Twins
How the new Mother will dress her twins is a big decision. But it really comes down to two choices.
- Do you dress them identically
- Do you pick individual wardrobes for each?
Should You Buy Two of Everything?
Many new Mothers chose to buy two of everythingfor baby's layette so that there are no decisions as to who wears what. Others want the babies to develop their own identity and try to plan a different wardrobe for each. Some go as far as selecting a color scheme for each twin so that they know from an early age that the yellow pants belongs to one and the purple belongs to the other. In theory you can plan whatever you want, but your twins may not cooperate with your masterplan. My twin grand daughters were dressed exactly alike down to their socks until they developed opinions. Then one wanted to wear pink and the other lavender or they both fought over the same outfit.
Their mother smartly solved the problem by buying everything in the same color scheme.
- She bought all of the nine month pants in pink; every shirt matched these pants ;and she had four of each style, so she was never short.
- The twelve month size tights were all in brown - again with different coordinating shirts. She bought two styles of pajamas in each size - four in each style so that the could dress alike or differently .
- The twins have two sets of identical blankets - one in pink & brown. and the other in solid pink chenille.
- They are constantly exchanging blankets and it no longer matters which belongs to which; everything is community property. The posh dot pink by Bearington Bear and the pink Barefoot Dream are shared.
Getting two babies ready to go out is a challenge. You are not even close to being done when one twin is dressed. You have a fifty-fifty chance that the dressed twin with either spit up or dirty his diaper before the second twin is ready. If you have two identical outfits; one is going to be unusable. We solved this problem by having multiples of everything and everything coordinated.
