A beautiful soft baby quilt is always a cherished baby gift and a personalized baby quilt embroidered with baby's name or monogram is a favorite personalized baby gift. The baby quilts at Namely Newborns are handcrafted by talented quilters who take pride in their work. Because our quilts for babies are sewn one at a time, we are able to offer our customers many custom options.

If you pick out a ready made quilt, many of the decisions are already made for you. Either the baby quilt is the right color and size or it isn't. Once you decide on a custom baby quilt, all of the customized features can be overwhelming. Here are our top five tips that will help you customize your quilt for baby.

1. Select the baby quilt size carefully.

Decide what the main purpose of the quilt will be.The standard baby quilt is 54" by 60". This size is perfect for cribs, tummy time and wall hangings. If you are looking for a quilt for the stroller or baby carseat, we recommend a 30 " by 36" baby quilt. A quilt that is too large will drag on the ground and become dirty or get caught in the stroller wheels. A baby quilt that is too large will be cumbersome in a baby carseat and will add extra weight when you lift the carseat out of the car and snap it into the stroller.

2. Choose the fabric with care.

Make sure that the fabric is a high quality cotton or fleece that is washable and pre- shrunk so that the outer fabric will not be too small to cover the batting. If the fabric shrinks, the baby quilt will curl and never lie flat. Check the batting which is used to fill the quilt; make sure that itis 100% hypoallergenic polyster and baby safe.

3. Select the design and baby quilt'sthe color scheme.

We love animals, butterflies, flowers and ballet styles for girls. Transportation , animals and sports are the most popular desigs for baby boy quilts. Favorite animals for both boys and girl quilts are giraffes and elephants. Remember to choose colors that are compatible . Select light and dark shades of the same color or use contrasting colors.
