Namely Newborns Eliminates Baby Bedding from Its Website

Tuesday, October 18th, 2011
  • New Sleep Measures for Infants have been issued by the American Academy of Pediatrics aimed at reducing sleep-related deaths in infants. We have heard the rumors for years that  bumper pads that were puffy were not recommended for cribs. Now the AAP has definitely ruled agains all types of bumper pads.”There is a potential risk of suffocation, strangulation or entrampment.” To comply with this, We have decided to remove all crib bedding from our website since most sets come with bumpers.

Since 1992, the pediatricians’ group has suggested that parents place babies to sleep on their backcs as a way to reduce the risk of SIDS.  Since June of 2011, federal standards for cribs make it illegal for traditional drop -sided cribs to be sold or resold. We caution all Mothers to check their old cribs for this feature and replace the crib if it has a drop side. Avoid hand me down cribs. Be careful when borrowing cribs from friends to check this feature. As a Grandmother, my friends and I have always shared old cribs for the vacation sleepover.  Now , we will have to look elsewhere for the vacation crib.

About 2,500 babies die annually from SIDS.  The number has declined from over 4,000 in the early 90′s ; hopefully because of new precautions. This is a matter to be taken seriously.

With all this said, new Mom’s still want to decorate their nursery. What will replace the baby bedding as the focus of the nursery

Baby bedding was always the most important decorative element in a nursery.

Mothers who want to be extra cautious will now have to look to other key elements to accent their nursery.

Here are our suggestions;

  • Pretty sheets and dust ruffles are still a great way to introduce color and design.
  • An area rug is another excellent choice , especially if it is placed beside the dressing table  to provide extra protection in case a rambuctious toddler rolls off the changing table.
  • Wall paper and paint will have to be the primary decorating tools for the twenty-first century.
  • Beautiful stuffed toys
  • Stepstools
  • Play tables
  • Drapes and Shades
  • Baby Quilts Can be Hung on the Wall
  • Nursery Wipe Box in beautiful fabrics

Baby Quilts Can be a Feature in the Modern Nursery

Tips to Get the New Dad to Help with Baby

Friday, July 8th, 2011

The modern Dad needs to share in all of the parenting responsibilities.

Gone are the days when Dad worked, Mom stayed home with the kids and when Dad came home he put on his slippers , smoked a pipe and read or watched TV. Most families are two income families . If Mom is to go back to work, Dad has to do his fair share of the work. There ‘s no time like the beginning to break in a new Dad. The minute baby comes home, the roles need to be established and the partnership begun. Even if Mom has  maternity leave , Dad needs to start shouldering his responsiblities asap.

Tip One:When you shop for baby accessories, find a masculine diaper bag like a messenger bag, so Dad won’t be embarrassed carrying a feminine bag. Try to find accessories that are sports oriented like our basketball and football theme baby wipe cases. Find a wipe case with his favorite team and make it a special gift for him to use when it’s his turn for diaper duty.

Many Dad’s wonder how they will balance Fatherhood a work
Striking a semblance of balance between the office and family life is a juggling act for every working parent. Dads, though, may find it especially difficult. Moms can often take up to 12 weeks maternity leave, but many men can swing only a few days out of the office. Even those who have paternity leave may be afraid to take the time because they worry about damaging their career.

Tip Two:

Help Dad Deal: Encourage your partner to broach paternity leave with his boss as early as possible and to take all the time he’s entitled to, says Kyle Pruett, M.D., author of Fatherneed: Why Father Care Is as Essential as Mother Care for Your Child. Remind your guy that most employers simply want the work to get done; they’re less concerned with when you do it. You and your husband can brainstorm solutions to his job situation.

New moms have a clear advantage over dads: You live with a little creature inside you for nine months and, thanks to nursing, often spend more time getting to know him in the early days. Many Moms have baby sit or taken care of younger siblings. For most men, feeding, bathing, diapering, and soothing a newborn are usually uncharted territory .

Tip Three:

Let the new Dad acccompany you to parenting classes. Perhaps, you can babysit a newborn together before you give birth .Always be encouraging. Let him know that you’re learning on the job, too, and that he’ll do fine as long as he makes the effort.  Offer a tutorial on, say, bathtime, if he needs one, then have him take over while you catch a nap or meet a friend.

If your partner is used to going out with his buds twice a week or hitting the gym whenever he pleases, you need to break it to him (gently) that those days are over.

Tip Four:

Soften the blow by letting your spouse know he can have a night out every now and then, as long as you get your fair share of furloughs too.

Tip Five:Look for a baby blanket that he can find fun . Use a baby blanket with a sports theme and he will enjoy wrapping baby in a football or basketball blanket.

Dad will love cuddling baby in a football blanket.

quilt tag on the back of the quilt.

NBA Finals

Tuesday, May 31st, 2011

The NBA playoffs are now in their final round. Its defense, defense and more defense. How can you defend yourself against this major sports attraction. How can you get your man involved with his baby.

The Miami Heat after surprising everyone by beating Chicago at their own stadium in the fifth game are now tackling the Dallas Mavericks.  They could be the NBA champions and repeat their 2006 championship season.

If your big guy has no time for anyone but the NBA these next two weeks and every Tuesday, Thursday , and Sunday he is in front of the big screen, how can you distract him and make him do his fair share of diaper duty. We have a solution, have your diaper wipe case custom wrapped in Heat fabric.

Doing diaper duty in style

These amazing cases carry a good supply of Huggie wipes.  For an extra special touch you can embroider your little stars name right on the case. This way Daddy can’t shirk his responsibilities while he is watching basketball.

We admit , it is not the same as having Lebron James from the Heat or Nabitsky from the Mavericks right in your nursery, but it will get Daddy’s attention and will be a great keepsake for the rest of the year.
If you aren’t a Heat fan, you won’t hurt our feelings. You can send us fabric from your favorite team and we will make your little fan a personalized baby wipe case of his very own .
